Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? - Russell Investments, Quilter

Russell Investments Hoek, who was most recently a director and portfolio strategist at Robeco, will be responsible for working with Russell Investments’ fiduciary management clients in Northern Europe. Barents-Jager will be in charge of expanding the firm’s wealth management and wholesale markets business in Benelux and the Nordics. She was formerly in business development at Franklin Templeton, Prudential-Bache and ING, and most recently worked for Principal Global Investors, primarily in mutual funds. The two hires follow the December arrival of Ramon Dijkstra from BNP Paribas as a private markets research analyst. The Seattle, Washington- based firm said the new hires would help fuel a push into institutional and wholesale markets in Northern Europe. The multi-asset manager operates in 32 countries and manages around $270 billion for clients. Quilter Breedon is currently a non-executive director at Barclays Bank where he chairs the risk committee and sits on a number of other committees. He is also chairman of Apax Global Alpha and previously served as executive chair of the Northview Group. In a long career in pensions and saving at Legal & General, he served as group chief executive between 2006 and 2012. In recent years, he has also served as a director of the Association of British Insurers and non-executive director on the Financial Reporting Council. In a statement on Thursday, Quilter indicated that Breedon would “challenge, advice and support” management on business performance and decision-making in his new post. Quilter chairman Glyn Jones called his experience "unique" as a former FTSE CEO and seasoned non-executive director in FTSE 100 and private equity backed businesses. "He brings a deep understanding of UK regulated financial services, corporate governance in UK public companies, and effective board challenge and support in building out a sustainable long term business,” Jones said. Quilter said Breedon will also join its risk, remuneration, corporate governance, and nominations committees.
Russell Investments is adding to its Amsterdam-based team, with Jaap Hoek joining as director of investment strategy and solutions for Northern Europe, and Marleen Barents-Jager as sales director retail for Benelux and the Nordics.
Following the March announcement that Cathy Turner and Dr Suresh Kana will be stepping down from the board, former L&G group CEO Tim Breedon has been made independent non-executive director at Quilter, taking effect on 1 June.
